AC-X2/XAV2
Pedestrian Push-Button Station

General Description
The AC-X2/XAV2 family of pedestrian push-button stations are activation devices designed to be used at crosswalks. All models provide a simple and convenient means of activating In-Roadway Warning Lighting Systems and include an instructional sign plate and an ADA compliant push-button with a field adjustable directional arrow.

Family Member Specifications

AC-X2
Basic model. Includes an instructional sign plate and an ADA compliant push-button with field adjustable directional arrow.

AC-X2LED
AC-X2 model with a set of three yellow LEDs which, once the system is activated, flash in sync with the in-roadway warning lighting.

AC-XAV2
AC-X2 model with pre-recorded voice message. Features selectable languages - English or English and Spanish (Using the standard control unit), and English or English and French (using -C control unit). Plus repeatable messages - once, twice, three times, or continuous while warning system is activated.

AC-XAV2LED
AC-X2 model with both AC-X2LED and AC-XAV2 features.

AC-XAVCU2
AC-XAV2/XAV2LED controller. Controls up to two pedestrian stations.

How to Specify the Pedestrian Push-Button Station

The pedestrian Push-button station shall be model (AC-X2, AC-X2LED, AC-XAV2, or AC-XAV2LED) together with the interface controller (AC-XAVCU2) required for models (AC-XAV2 and AC-XAV2LED) as marketed by Traffic Safety Corporation or approved equal. In order to be approved equal, the proposed device must satisfy the following requirements:

AC-X2 Model

1. The pedestrian push-button station shall be ADA compliant, with a two inch push-button with directional arrow (field adjustable), and incorporate a solid state switch requiring only 1-3 lbs. of force to activate.
2. The station shall be designed to have a switch life in excess of 20 million cycles, withstand severe impacts, and should not fail in the "On" position.
3. The station shall be housed in a vandal resistant, cast aluminum frame with yellow powder coat finish and watertight O-ring seals.
4. The station shall operate from 12/24 VDC supplied by the system controller.
5. The station shall be supplied with mounting hardware.
6. Mounting requirements include: 2 holes on 6.0" centers, tapped 1/4 - 20, plus a 0.5 inch or larger hole for wire access.

AC-X2LED Model
Requirements 1 – 6 above plus:

7. The LED option: a row of three LEDs above the button that shall activate at the same time and flash at the same rate as the in-pavement lighting system.

AC-XAV2 Model
Requirements 1 – 6 above plus:

8. The "Talking" option is activated by depressing the push-button and shall audibly announce a standard, pre-recorded message of up to 16 seconds in duration.
9. The station shall incorporate a noise monitoring microphone (frequency range: 170 Hz to 2.3 KHz) and circuit for dynamically controlling the volume over an ambient noise range of up to 28 dB.
10. The internal 8 ohm speaker shall be weatherproof and shall handle up to 15 watts maximum power.
11. The station shall include an internal audio power amplifier capable of providing up to 10 watts RMS into an 8 ohm speaker.

AC-XAV2LED Model
Requirements 1 – 11 above.

AC/SC-XAVCU2 and SC-XAVCU2-DC

1. All models shall be capable of controlling two AC-XAV2 or AC-XAV2LED push-button stations.
2. The control interface measures 4.50" x 6.5" x 1.6" and shall fit within the TS1000 Crosswalk System Controller enclosure.
3. Message language(s), English or English and Spanish, or English and French (-C control Unit) shall be selectable using DIP switches or equivalent.
4. Message shall be repeated once, twice, three times or continuously while flashing using DIP switches or equivalent.
5. The control interface shall include controls to restrict the volume setting chosen by the noise monitoring microphone.
6. The control interface may be operated from 120 VAC (AC/SC-XAVCU2) or 12 VDC (SC-XAVCU2-DC).

Warranty:
All AC-X2/XAV2 models shall be warranted against defects in workmanship and materials for one year from date of shipment and are eligible for TSC's 5-Year Limited System Warranty.
